“Working with Cee was absolutely wonderful and just what I needed to get a stalled project back on track. Her enthusiasm for the manuscript helped reinvigorate my own interest, and the questions she asked re-engaged me with my characters and their trials. Her editorial notes were insightful, specific, and enabled me to make strong decisions when restructuring character arcs and balancing interweaving plotlines. Her feedback not only showed me what needed fixing, but also what I was already doing well! That encouragement bolstered my resolve when I was getting too bogged down in the challenges. Cee is easy to communicate with, very approachable, and she always provided timely updates during the process.
I also can’t say enough good things about the book map she creates as part of the developmental editing process. The book map is a granular, scene-by-scene examination of the text, allowing a writer to see the forest they might have been missing while working on all those individual trees. It tracks major plot developments and, perhaps more critically, the arcs and significant beats for major characters. Together with the wonderfully detailed editorial letter, I had all the tools I needed to reshape my manuscript.”

“I am beyond amazed with Cee and her expertise; she provided top-notch editorial feedback that made a massive difference in the quality of my book. Not only is she timely, communicative, and incredibly fun to work with, but she also possesses attention to detail that shines through in her marginal comments and editorial letter. Faced with a massive (nearly 200k word) project, Cee took the time to fully understand the characters, the plot, and the intricacies of my story. She made invaluable suggestions that I can see myself using in future projects as well as my current one, all presented in a digestible way. I cannot emphasize how helpful Cee has been, and I’m already looking forward to working with her in the future!”

“Cee is knowledgeable and thorough. I think what was most impressive to me is how well she adapted to meet my needs. Her level of experience was clear in how she was able to understand where I am in my writing journey and provide me actionable advice on ways I can move through working on my project. Her attention to my manuscript was kind and constructive. I felt like she really grasped not only what I managed to get onto the page, but even the essence of things that I’d hoped to and was able to provide guidance on ways I could bring those missing elements to the reader.
Her deliverables were also organized and easy to process. Which is feat considering they encompass the entirety of a project. It can be difficult to find an editor that clicks both with your work and your brain, but I feel very confident saying that Cee is an editor that will successfully manage to provide the same level of effort and care I experienced to many writers. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“Cee’s feedback was absolutely invaluable, not just in terms of making my book better, but in terms of not letting me stray from the story I wanted to tell. Her initial feedback was a mix of highlighting the places where the book wasn’t landing, explaining why it wasn’t landing, but also joyously reacting to the bits where it did land, validating a series of choices by that alone.
With the things that didn’t hit the way they should, she left margin for authorial intent– ie she’d say “if you were trying to accomplish X, then either Z or Y would be needed, but if you were trying to show A then this works as-is” and to not only offer solutions but ask questions.
When the answers to those questions got back to her, she was careful to unpack where I was making changes based on where I wanted to go, vs the changes I’d make simply to justify plot holes, rather than fixing them. I’m prone to adding needless complications in justification, and was losing sight of the spirit of what I’d set out to write. In her subsequent feedback she noted where those complications would (or wouldn’t) work but made me reflect on the question “is this the story you want to tell?”
I was surprised to discover that, at one point, I’d gotten lost in the forest for the trees, and her question absolutely brought me back to myself. Yes, Cee’s feedback made my story much, much better but, in addition to that, it let me preserve the joy in writing it and the pride in the finished product, which I’d have been likely to lose if I’d let myself get derailed by, well, me.
TL;DR: Cee’s feedback is out of this world, and she concerns herself not only with the quality of the story but also that said story is the one I want to get out.”

“All I can say is, Cee is absolutely brilliant! She understood my vision for my book/series, and I can definitely work with her detailed suggestions to get the right points on the page. I had gotten to the point where I knew the main plot was complicated, but kept adding and subtracting scenes and was getting so sick of looking at it. I needed something to spark a rekindling of my desire to make this idea work. I’m actually looking forward to incorporating these changes, now. It makes me love the story that much more!”

“Cee is a remarkable editor who knows her craft backwards. She is a sensitive, careful and smart reader, and has a laser-focus that helps her to unpick where the problems actually lie in a story, not just their superficial manifestation. As a baby author, I’d dreaded being left to try and work out how to navigate the repair work required to address whatever issues the edit had thrown up—let alone finding the motivation to do it! But instead, Cee went out of her way to explain not just the problem and how it manifested—though she did that too, so I could understand *why* a change needed to be made – but the strategies I could use to address them, complete with examples. She recognised so much of what I was trying to do, and had many excellent, thoughtful and insightful suggestions for how to ensure that what was on the page lived up to those aims. I especially appreciated her working out how to tighten my call to action in a way I hadn’t considered but made perfect sense—such a relief! It may also seem trivial, but Cee’s enjoyment of my work was so encouraging. It was like having my ideal reader give me feedback! And gave me the will to jump back in there (yet again!) and tug all those strands into even tighter alignment. Thanks again, Cee, and I’m sure book 2 will also benefit from your careful eye!”

“My background is in journalism, and editing in that field is all about correction: cutting what isn’t needed, fixing what is needed but doesn’t work. I entered into the developmental editing process thinking that’s what it was going to be like. But what I learned while working with Cee is that a good editor isn’t just trying to point out all your mistakes. A good editor begins with the question, “What are your goals with this book?”, and then works with you to help you achieve those specific goals. When Cee and I first connected, I explained to her that I wanted to use Frostbitten to introduce a world in which I could tell more stories. So when I got her edits back, every suggestion and comment she made was from the perspective of, “You are trying to do this, and I don’t think it’s coming across how YOU want it to.” If a piece of worldbuilding was important to me, even if it wasn’t absolutely crucial to the book, Cee didn’t tell me to cut it. She helped me find a way to weave it in so that it worked for the book. It was not only a process that helped me take huge leaps towards writing the book that I wanted to write, but it’s one that taught me the importance of knowing what your goals are with your writing. Not every story is trying to do the same thing. Some writers want to kick off a twelve-book edit. Some writers want to write the most commercially viable book for the market and sell as many copies as possible. Some writers just want to find an agent. An editor like Cee starts with understanding what you want to achieve, and helping you tell the best story possible that will help you get there. It was a hugely rewarding process, and my book will be light years better for having partnered with Cee.”

“Cee’s developmental feedback on the opening 25K of my novel helped immensely in helping identify my weak points, particularly in deepening the main character’s point of view. She gave actionable advice in terms of showing more of my character’s thought process so I gave the reader more insight and emotional connection to the character’s journey. Much of her advice helped inform the way I approached the remainder of this novel from start to finish.
Cee’s feedback was never overly harsh or demoralising; she always ensured I understood why she felt something wasn’t working and talked through multiple solutions. On top of being sensitive to me as an author putting forth work that can be quite vulnerable, she also shows sensitivity towards the content of the story and has a keen sense for the moments where a story might be expressing sentiments I didn’t intend.
Cee’s strength particularly lies in creating a sense of emotional depth and resonance with the characters of the story, allowing the reader to fully immerse themselves in the book. My stories are certainly better for her invaluable feedback and keen eye for detail!”

“Cee has gotten her hands on not one, but three of my books in an editorial capacity, and each one has only reinforced how much I enjoy working with her. She showed a keen instinct for the parts of each book that would make it flow better and feel more real—character arcs, natural progressions of emotion, plot structure, and pacing—and put those instincts into words in a way that made sense for me as the author without ever commanding where the story should go.
She detailed the places she felt each book wasn’t working or may not have landed true to my intent, explained why she felt that way (with examples!), spitballed possible solutions, and ultimately returned those comments to me to turn into a solution of my choice. She also highlighted things that worked, so I knew where I was on the right track. Her level of engagement was contagious, and she framed her observations positively without ever shying away from the things that needed work.
Implementing Cee’s feedback felt like a string of lightbulbs going on one after another. I could see concrete manifestations of problems that before had only been an “off” feeling in the back of my mind. My characters and their reactions felt more real, especially when dealing with the kinds of fantastical situations I like to throw them into. Stakes were clarified and raised. Conflict was more coherent. Cee also caught several places where my writing was running awry of the themes or outcomes I wanted it to convey, and gave me the feedback I needed in order to course-correct.
For what it’s worth, all three of my books that Cee has touched went on to shortlist in significant online contests, and continue to perform best out of everything in my repertoire. 10/10 would come back for an edit again!”

“I cannot overstate how amazing an experience it’s been to work with Cee as a Book Coach. Not only is Cee a font of knowledge and wisdom on the craft of writing and storytelling, but she knows exactly how and when to explain what changes might need to be made to a fledgling writer. With her support, I’ve been able to get through the first draft of my very first book, which is something I’d dreamed of doing since I was a kid. And then with her insight and feedback, I was able to further shape that story into the one I wanted to tell, and make something I could be proud of placing on my bookshelf alongside my favorite books.
Always intelligent, gracious, curious and kind – Cee is the best at what she does, and I’m so, so grateful for her guiding hand on my work.”

“Cee is an editing wizard. Her detailed knowledge of everything to do with story and craft has been instrumental in helping me to shape my book into the best possible version it can be. Cee took the time to intimately understand my book and my characters—almost on the same level as me, the author—and her suggestions, insights, and continued support throughout the writing process allowed me to create the book I’ve always wanted to write.
